Striking uniforms in Mayfair
Overlooking the iconic Grosvenor Square in London's prestigious Mayfair, The Biltmore offers a five star resting place in the heart of London. Lyn Oakes was honoured to contribute to this hotel's distinguished image by designing and crafting bespoke uniforms for its Doormen, Concierge, and Porters. Working in harmony with the hotel's existing uniforms for other departments, our focus was on creating pieces that would not only complement the overall aesthetic but also make a striking statement in their own right.
Luxury Doormen
For the Doormen, we designed a truly iconic piece: a double-breasted "Lancer" coat crafted from luxurious doeskin wool. This British woven cloth, renowned for its warmth, durability, and exquisite drape, is a testament to quality craftsmanship and perfectly suited for the rigours of outdoor wear. The coat's rich green hue, a nod to the surrounding garden square, is beautifully accented with a contrasting black collar and delicate gold piping, creating a look that is instantly recognisable. This statement piece serves as a conversation starter, enhancing the hotel's curb appeal and creating a memorable first impression for guests.
Intricate details for refined professionals
Inside, the Concierge team exude an air of refined professionalism in bespoke black tailcoats. These garments, exemplars of British tailoring at its finest, are elevated with the addition of stunning gold twisted braid. This intricate detail, meticulously sewn into an angular design on the cuffs, adds a touch of glamour and a regal nod to the overall look. Ensuring the perfect fit for every member of the team, including one Concierge standing at an impressive 6'6", was a key priority. Our experienced Lyn Oakes tailors conducted individual measurements for each staff member guaranteeing that every garment was tailored to perfection. This commitment to precision tailoring was reinforced by a dedicated fitting day, where any final tweaks or alterations could be made to ensure a perfect fit. The result is our high-end tailored uniforms help to enhance the grandeur of The Biltmore but also empowers its staff to provide an exceptional guest experience.
